Dave started working as a gage engineer in 1977. Since then his experience in gages has included, gage design, specifications, sales, and product engineering, customer support/trouble shooting, on-site & off-site seminars, manufacturing manager, computer software design, computer network supervisor, technical support, and presently serving as Corporate Quality Director of Glastonbury Southern Gage.
As an active ASME member, Dave is Chairman of ASME/ANSI Committees B89-1-5 Measurement of Cylindrical Plugs, and B89.1.6 Measurement of Cylindrical Rings.
WORKSHOP: The Secrets of Thread Gaging
This workshop will explore the following:
- Why an indicating gage is necessary when gaging some threads, and attribute gages don’t give enough information.
- Explanation of accumilation of thread feature errors. Size, roundness, eccentricity, lead, and pitch.
- How indicating gages will show the difference in a measured size and a functional size.
- Types of thread elements, functional, radius ribbed, cone & vee.
- Limitations of indicating gages, and why a Go gage is also required.
