PRESENTATION: Industrial CT Scanning
This presentation is geared to educate on the basics of CT scanning, the types of scanners, advantages of CT scanning and the analysis and inspection techniques that can be utilized using industrial CT scanning.
Industrial CT Scanning is the foremost inspection and part reconstruction technology available on the market today. Industrial CT scanning works with X-Rays to interlace 2D scan images to create a 3D representation. CT scanning offers part reconstruction and/or full metrology on parts/assemblies. Industrial CT Scanning does not require any fixtures for inspection therefore it is a non-destructive technology. At present there are two types of industrial CT scanning systems available on the market. The most accurate type of machine is a cone beam system and works by interlacing approximately 1300 X-Rays images taken on a flat panel detector. The second type of machine is a line beam system and operates by stitching numerous X-Rays images taken by a line detector at pre specified spacing. Depending on the part size and density, one scanner would be favoured over the other scanner in order to provide optimum results.
