PRESENTATION: Developing a Risk-Based Calibration Program
In today’s economic environment companies are looking for ways to reduce expenses and calibration is looked at as an expense – in some cases, as a necessary evil. They don’t want to do it but they know they have to. Since they can’t eliminate it, they may look for ways to reduce the expense. In some cases this may involve extending calibration intervals. In others, they may decide to use a less expensive calibration service provided. There is nothing wrong with these approaches if the risk is properly assessed and requirements are met.
Developing a risk based calibration program provides much needed information when making decisions about calibrated equipment. Developing this program is much easier said than done.
There is risk associated with outsourcing calibration. All suppliers need to be managed through a program of supplier controls and evaluations. In this presentation we will develop a risked based approach to calibration, identify calibration supplier requirements and controls necessary to reduce risk.
This presentation is directed toward businesses which need to have their equipment calibrated - regardless of the reason (regulatory, legal, product/service liability, etc).
